PHRED team member teaches students to drive at the science fair

Team 847 PHRED works continually to become a team that exemplifies all that the FIRST Robotics program stands for. It has worked to extend a helping hand into the community, while simultaneously educating the community about FIRST and its programs. The team participates in activities such as bringing our robot to the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Family Fun Fair, helping out at the Corvallis Clinic community picnic, and driving our robot in the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo Parade.

PHRED promotes science, engineering, and FIRST programs in our school district by bringing our robot to the middle and elementary school science fair so the younger students and their families can learn about our team and other FIRST programs. We also go to the 8th grade science classes as well as middle school assemblies to get incoming freshmen interested in PHRED.

PHRED participates in an off-season scrimmage at OMSI

PHRED is also active in the local FIRST community. PHRED participates in scrimmages with local teams at the daVinci Days Festival in Corvallis and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). We also bring our robot to and volunteer at the FIRST LEGO League tournament in Corvallis, to show the LEGO League students what the opportunities are available at the high school level.
