2011 - PHRED X

LogoMotion is the FRC game from 2011. Like previous years, the game is played on a 27' by 54' foot field covered with a simple gray carpet. Each team and robot is on an "Alliance" with two other teams. There are two Alliances and therefore 6 robots playing at a time. There is a 15 second autonomous period at the beginning of the match where the robots are controlled by precoded instructions. After this there is two minutes of driver control including the 15 second "Endgame" at the end. This totals up to a two minute and fifteen second match. The goal is to get inflatable tubes shaped like pieces of the FIRST logo onto one of the two three by three grids of pegs at either side of the field. Basic scoring is each Logo Piece (inflatable tube) on the bottom row of pegs earns one point. Each piece on the second row earns two and the top row three. The LogoMotion field. If the pieces are in the same order as the FIRST logo (triangle-circle-square), then the row's points are doubled. There is also a round, yellow "Ubertube" that can only be placed during the autonomous period. This tube counts as double points itself (2,4,6) but if a Logo Piece is put over it, the Ubertube doubles that piece's score. The final part of scoring is the deployable "Minibots". Minibots are small bots that ride on the "Hostbot" during most of the game. During the Endgame, the Minibots are deployed onto one of the four tower where they try to climb to the top. The first one there gains a massive 30 point bonus. The second one gets 20, third 15, and fourth 10.

PHRED went to the Autodesk OPHRED X at the CV High School Scrimmageregon Regional from March 25-27th. The team arrived in Portland on Thursday at 8:00 and spent the whole day practicing. The bot performed admirable but had issues with the autonomous mode. Once seeding matches began on Friday, the minibot began to have problems staying on the bot before deployment. Focusing on the primary function of scoring and transporting, PHRED was ranked 14th of the 58 teams. During alliance sellection the team was chosen by teams 1540 along with team 1510. The alliance played well with its transporter and two high scorers managing to score 108 points in a single match. The alliance was finally defeated in the semifinals by teams 1425, 2733, and 2087.
